Left Turns

Hi folks, how about another great article from my favorite poster, Greg Maresca who always hits the nail squarely on the head. This time he adds a little waggishness.  How  about  that  word,  huh?

By Greg Maresca

The Nobel Prize Committee announced their annual nominees and since the committee is a willing hostage to woke politics, they nominated Black Lives Matter for the Nobel Peace Prize.  If by happenchance, BLM does not win – burning down Nobel’s Swedish headquarters should definitely get them nominated again in 2022.

For saying Dominion’s voting machines fixed the presidential election for Joe Biden, Rudy Giuliani is being sued for $1.3 billion.  Apparently, their board of directors voted unanimously 12-0 to file the lawsuit.  However, the vote was 10-2, against, but that was before they ran the ballots through their latest software.

Concerning ballots, Gallup’s annual “Most Admired Man in America” poll, had Donald Trump victorious over Barack Obama, but the initial results are being called into question as some mail-in ballots are still being counted.

The popularity of mail-in ballots was not lost on Amazon employees.  The company, however, adamantly opposed mail-in ballots for its employees on whether or not to unionize a warehouse in Alabama. Amazon was concerned about voter fraud. Imagine that?  Ironically, Amazon’s now former CEO Jeff Bezos, who also owns the Washington Post, published one diatribe commentary after another leading up to November’s presidential election ridiculing everyone who expressed any concerns about the propensity for fraud concerning mailed ballots.

As good as Alec Baldwin the actor may be, he is definitely not the best actor in his marriage.  Wife Hilaria (her stage name, perhaps?) born Hillary Lynn Thomas in Boston is obviously better having carried on the charade so convincingly for years that she was a foreign-born Hispanic.   The Woke Cancel Culture just shrugged and gave the leftist Baldwin a pass.  However, that was not the case when Country music artist Morgan Wallen said the infamous N-word during a recent recording session.  Wallen has been exiled from numerous online merchandizing platforms for his iniquity.  On the flip side, Wallen has great potential to kick-start a new career as a rapper.

The Democrat leadership in the U.S. House is stuck in the mental quicksand of Orwellian duplicity when “father, daughter, mother, and son” and all gendered pronouns were officially banned.  But it gets even better.  When Democrat Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri delivered the opening prayer of the 117th Congress, he concluded by saying: “… and god known by many names by many different faiths.  Amen and a-woman.”  The Hebrew word “amen,” means “May it be so,” yet Cleaver conjured up such a ridiculous fabrication because to Democrats “amen” sounds like an offensive reference to males.  This is more than political correctness and identity politics run amuck; it’s diabolical.  Moreover, this was coming from a man whose first name in Hebrew means “God with us” and is an ordained Methodist pastor.  Perhaps he should change his name to Ewomanuel.

Best of all, anyone caught smirking will be charged with a hate crime.

The phrase “historic first” gets thrown around like a baseball during infield practice.  Pete Buttigieg being confirmed as the next U.S. Secretary of Transportation is the first LGBTQ cabinet member in U.S. history.  Buttigieg is former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, a town not really known for its public transportation, but since when does that not make one qualified to oversee the entire nation’s system?  We are talking woke identity politics here.  Besides, Buttigieg tweeted he “loved transportation and proposed to his husband in an airport terminal.”

Kamala Harris is not the “first” American vice president of mixed race.  That title goes to Charles Curtis who was the nation’s 31st vice president serving from 1929-1933 under Herbert Hoover.  Curtis was a descendant of Chief White Plume of the Kaw Nation and Chief Pawhuska both on his mother’s side.

The Super Bowl was the site of yet another case of the “historic firsts syndrome” as Sarah Thomas was the first female to officiate at a Super Bowl.  To be even more edgy and perhaps pull in more women fans, the NFL should hire all women officials.  Who better than a group of women to catch and broadcast what men are doing wrong.

If firing someone because of race, or sexual orientation is discriminatory, isn’t hiring someone for the same reason just as discriminatory?

This is what the left calls progress.

Lawyers

If you are a lawyer and reading this, I hope you can agree with what this brave one has to say. He is right on the money. I know not who the author is, but he nailed it. Read it carefully and absorb the full impact of what he is saying. Sure, as many Americans, I am sometimes scornful of lawyers. However, I never looked at them like he does and how they are impacting the sorry state of affairs in our once great nation., I believe the worst thing that ever happened concerning them was when they were finally authorized to advertise vice hanging out a shingle. Here in SW Florida, where the population is somewhat aged, every commercial TV break will have at least one, sometimes as many as three ads  touting such ludicrous statements as, “If you’ve been injured in an automobile accident , it does not matter who was a fault, you deserve compensation. Do not jump to settle with the insurance companies.” I consider it absolutely criminal  to make statements like that.

Anyway, this is a great article and well written and explains why we are at such odds with one another in today’s society. Surely the names he mentions will ring bells in your head. I wish I knew who wrote it. Enjoy.

As an attorney, I hesitated to forward this as it can be an indictment against my profession.  But I believe there is much truth to the article below.  Very thought-provoking.  Lawyers are adversarial and are trained to try to win at all costs.  It may work in litigation but does not work well when governing our nation.  Trying to win at any costs creates the polarization and hatred that now fills our country and leaves no room for common sense or legitimate debate

Every Democrat presidential nominee since 1984 went to law school, although Gore did not graduate.  Joe Biden (no surprise) was at the bottom of his class.  Every Democrat vice presidential nominee since 1976, except for Lloyd Bentsen, went to law school.  Barack Obama was a lawyer.  Michelle Obama was a lawyer.  Hillary Clinton was a lawyer.  Bill Clinton was a lawyer.  John Edwards is a lawyer.  Elizabeth Edwards was a lawyer.  Look at leaders of the Democrat Party in Congress: Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer is a lawyer.  Former Senator Harry Reid was a lawyer.

The Republican Party is different.  President Trump was a businessman.  Presidents Bush 1 and 2 were businessmen.  Vice President Cheney was a businessman.  President Eisenhower was a 5 star General.  The leaders of the Republican Revolution: Newt Gingrich was a history professor.  Tom Delay was an exterminator.  Dick Armey was an economist.  Ex-House Minority Leader John Boehner was a plastics manufacturer.  The former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is a heart surgeon.  Who was the last Republican president who was a lawyer?  Gerald Ford, who left office 31 years ago and who barely won the Republican nomination as a sitting president, ran against actor Ronald Reagan in 1976.  The Republican Party is made up of real people doing real work, who are often the targets of lawyers.  This is very interesting. I had never thought about it this way before.

The Democrat Party is made up of lawyers.  Democrats mock and scorn men who create wealth, like Trump, Bush, and Cheney, or who heal the sick like Frist, or who immerse themselves in history like Gingrich.  The Lawyers Party sees these sorts of people, who provide goods and services that people want, as the enemies of America.  And so, in the eyes of the Lawyers Party, we have seen the procession of official enemies grow.  Against whom do Hillary and Obama rail?  Pharmaceutical companies, oil companies, hospitals, manufacturers, fast food restaurant chains, large retail businesses, bankers, and anyone producing anything of value in our nation.

This is the natural consequence of viewing everything through the eyes of lawyers.  Lawyers solve problems by successfully representing their clients, which, in this case should be the American people.  Lawyers seek to have new laws passed, they seek to win lawsuits, they press appellate courts to overturn precedent, and lawyers always parse language to favor their side.  Confined to the narrow practice of law, that is fine.  But it is an awful way to govern a great nation.

When politicians, as lawyers, begin to view some Americans as clients and other Americans as opposing parties, then the role of the legal system in our life becomes all-consuming.  Some Americans become adverse parties of our very government.  We are not all litigants in some vast social class-action suit.  We are citizens of a republic that promises us a great deal of freedom from laws, from courts, and from lawyers.

Today, we are drowning in laws.  We are contorted by judicial decisions.  We are driven to distraction by omnipresent lawyers in all parts of our once-private lives.  America has a place for laws and lawyers, but that place is modest and reasonable, not vast, and unchecked.  When the most important decision for our next president is whom, he will appoint to the Supreme Court, the role of lawyers and the law in America is too big.  When House Democrats sue America to hamstring our efforts to learn what our enemies are planning to do to us, then the role of litigation in America has become crushing.

Perhaps Americans will understand that change cannot be brought to our nation by those lawyers who already largely dictate American society and business.  Perhaps Americans will see that hope does not come from the mouths of lawyers but from personal dreams nourished by hard work.  Perhaps Americans will embrace the truth that more lawyers with more power will only make our problems worse.

The United States has 5% of the world’s population and 66% of the world’s lawyers!  Tort or legal reform legislation has been introduced in Congress several times in the last several years to limit punitive damages in ridiculous lawsuits such as spilling hot coffee on yourself and suing the establishment that sold it to you and to limit punitive damages in huge medical malpractice lawsuits.  This legislation has been blocked from even being voted on by the Democrat Party.  When you see that 97% of the political contributions from the American Trial Lawyers Association go to the Democrat Party, then you realize who is responsible for our medical and product costs being so high!

Shame On Minnesota

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Greg, but this one was well worth the wait. What a sad state of affairs. This country has stooped so low that I can believe how immoral we have become.  If I lived in MN I would get the hell out of that state so my taxes did not pay for such travesties. Think about this for a second if you will.. Some sleaze bag of a  woman, yes I said “woman,” decides at the last minute that she does not want to raise a boy. She wants a girl, so she has it killed. Or suppose she breaks up with her boyfriend (the father) and doesn’t want the baby anymore. Easy, just go to an abortion mill and have it removed and tossed in the trash. That. my friends , is the state of our society. God help us for we know not what we do.

Another Glass Ceiling  Shattered                                                                             By: Greg Maresca

Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade with their 2022 Dobbs decision and gave the States’ the power to determine their abortion laws, Minnesota wasted no time in enshrining abortion up until birth in their constitution.  Moreover, Minnesota is one of 17 states where tax dollars fund nearly half of their abortions.

This made Minnesota, a haven for abortion providers, a seamless venue for the first ever visit by a sitting vice president to tour an abortion mill.  Planned Parenthood in St. Paul hosted Vice President Kamala Harris in what the mainstream media celebrated as another historic first for Harris and the nation.

Is there no road too low when celebrating firsts – an abortion mill? Harris goes to where the slaughtering of innocent lambs occurs, and we highlight this as some heroic act worthy of a “first.”

Harris’ “national tour” is about touting the Biden administration’s commitment to abortion in the upcoming November election.  The Biden-Harris re-election campaign is advocating that abortion be codified into federal law by Congress.  Democrats want to normalize abortion as if it is just another procedure as if you were having your teeth cleaned.

Harris was direct in berating pro-lifers everywhere wailing, “How dare these elected leaders believe they are in a better position to tell women what they need, to tell women what is in their best interest.  In this environment, these attacks against an individual’s right to make decisions about their own body are outrageous and, in many instances, just plain old immoral.”

Here is a Black woman who supports the killing of the most innocent among us preaching on what is immoral.  As Don King would say, “Only in America.” Perhaps Harris is unaware that Margaret Sanger founded Planned Parenthood to rid the country of Black folks.

Planned Parenthood stands in direct contrast to the compassionate support found at the many unheralded pregnancy resource centers that help not only during a mother’s pregnancy but after their child is born.

Harris claimed that “right now in our country we are facing a very serious health crisis” that is “affecting many, many people in our country, most of whom are frankly silently suffering.”

Abortion has nothing to do with healthcare or any other zeitgeist euphemism the left uses to put a baby to death.  Harris wouldn’t dare say “women” are facing a serious health crisis because in her world, men can also become pregnant.

Calling abortion “health care” but certainly not for a baby only underscores Harris’s ignorance. Babies are not diseases. They are separate human beings who possess a soul and a God-given right to be born.

Harris shows up at the border of the womb, where 65,000,000 were denied entry into America thanks to abortion. Harris has the time to go to an abortion mill, but not our overrun Southern border.

Infanticide energizes Democrats. Abortion is the only issue the Democrats campaign on because all their other policies are a total disaster as they desperately want to retain the reins of power.

Every abortion targets the most vulnerable and innocent among us resulting in death. An extreme abortion procedure is a classic oxymoron. To possess such a variety of methods to kill someone is indeed the work of a sick society driven by evil.  To call abortion medical science denies the very nature of what it is to be a physician.

Most abortions are the last vestige of birth control and not because the mother’s life is in danger. Democrats have succeeded into turning “reproductive health” and “abortion” into synonyms.

Reproducing adds life, abortion brings death.

Bishop Michael Burbidge of Arlington, Virginia and the Pro-Life Chair of the United States Council of Catholic Bishops wrote: “I am distressed to learn that the vice president is visiting an abortion clinic when there are so many agencies and organizations who are at the service of life that she could visit.”

I am sure the bishop’s courageous communique inspired many to action.

I have read stronger statements on a pack of cigarettes.

Best of all, your ballot for the Biden/Harris ticket in November keeps Harris a heartbeat away from yet another first.

In woke America, we have the first of everything and the best of nothing.

Yes, there have been so many “firsts” from the Biden horde of incompetents that I’ve lost count, and really don’t want to remember anything about them because none of them were good for America.  The entire regime can rest in hell as far as I am concerned, and I am praying that will happen in November. What say you?

My Pack is Heavy

Below is a  video a Marine Brother, Don Wolf, with whom I had the distinction to serve sent to me a while back. It has been in my computer ever since and I cannot tell you how many times I have clicked on it and watched. And each time I have great difficulty keeping my eyes clear enough to watch it.

I finally decided that I would take the time and post it. I have a problem though and that’s while I watch it, I think of all the slimy, gutless, pitiful millennials, spineless Gen Zers, and  wokeness, liberal, pronoun , transgender, and climate purveying bastards who have destroyed this once great nation. All I can find in my heart of hearts to say to those pieces of shit is — until you have worn the boots shut your damn mouth. And if you have worn the boots, yet have become one of those pieces of shit I just spoke of, you have sold your soul and I hope you rot in hell.

I am so sick  of hearing of the crime, broken justice system, abuse of power, stupid laws being passed to satisfied those ignorant shit heads.  Who the hell do those liberals in Colorado think they are that they have the right to decide who is or isn’t on a ballot for a national election.. And for all you sickly Californian’s, all I have to say is, maybe we should have a referendum on this year’s ballot with a  yes or no vote to give that shit state in which you hide back to Mexico. You don’t deserve to be one of the 50, and neither do you CO. I am a firm believer in State’s Rights, but you two abuse that privilege everyday. If you don’t want to be one of the 50, get out!

The biggest POS  of all who lives in our WH and all those pieces of garbage he has assigned to key cabinet positions because they were queer, transgender, lacked morals and principles, or the color of their skin is unbelievable, Your VP screwed her way to where she is and your press secretary is a disgrace to your office. I actually think she just might be dumber than you. We all know who is running this country; he’s into his third term. I wonder who he will find to get him his fourth? But then the libs are so stupid they just might try and elect that imbecile for his second term.

I’m tired of all this, and while I do not want to wish a few months of what life I have left, I cannot wait for November. Enjoy the video, make it full screen, and tell me  how many times you watch it brothers? Come on now be honest.

God, please help us, PLEASE!!!!

USAA

Well, it will happen this week as soon as they deposit my senior discount into my checking account at NFCU. What is it that will happen you asked? I will un-ass USAA after having been a customer since February 1974 (50 years for you non-math guys – LOL). It all started about a year or so ago when I had fraud on my USAA credit card. When speaking to a very nice woman (always), who was going to issue me a new card. I  was complaining about having to call all the companies that hit that card for recurring payments e.g., utilities, and she recommended I get another card and use it just for those recurring companies, but don’t carry that card with me. What a GREAT idea. She transferred me to another very nice woman (always). I  gave her all the information, and she sent it to the underwriting dept for approval. She came back on several minutes later and told me it was disapproved. Can you imagine the shock? She said they turned me down due to a credit report. I asked for a copy of it and the ONLY thing on the report was that I had three inquiries in the past two years. I refinanced my house three times to get to a 1.75% 30 yr fixed rate VA Loan. The bottomline statement said “There are no derogatory items on this report.” And by the way, my credit score on that report was 831. I wrote Mr. Peacock (President) who always boasts about loyalty. and told him where his loyalty really lies. A snooty woman (no longer nice) called a week later and tried to explain to me that the underwriters had to follow set policy. I asked who sets those policies and she tried to tell me it was the insurance industry. Bullshit, USAA sets the policy. I am a damn  Economist by education and hobby. I finally hung up on the bitch. Anyway, that was the beginning of the end for me and USAA.

Then they had the audacity to add something to my auto insurance policy this year without asking me. Something about “Car Replacement Assistance,” and Rental Car option. I called and talked to a very nice woman (as always, except for Mr. Peacock’s bitch) who said they added that thinking I might want it and that I may have forgotten to add renal car to my policy. I have a separate RV towing policy with another company that also covers rental car.  She removed them from the policy.

A month or so later  called and heard “Welcome to USAA, Press one for English or stay on the line.” Now, if I were in charge of a company who caters to military only like USAA, It would be “Welcome to USAA,” then in Spanish someone would say “Press one for Spanish.” Moot point you say? No it isn’t. I spent 36 years of my youthful life serving and bleeding for this country, and I refuse to deal with any company who asks me to press one for English. This is America and our damn language is ENGLISH! If you are Spanish and that upsets you, tough shit, learn English or get out.

There were other incidents that have caused me to un-ass USAA. But I decided I was going to look for another auto insurer because USAA has gotten way too expensive for my wallet. My policy is to expire on March 25th, and they raised my premium another 5% this coming year which will require me to pay a whooping $2,619.87 for a six month  policy.  Want to hear something funny?  They have the gull to tell me that they have given me $4,661.65 in discounts because of my bride and me being such safe drivers, etc. OK,  so had they not been so kind to give me that discount, my six month policy would have been $7,271.52 or 14,563.04/year. LOL Can you believe that? I can’t. I know I live in FL where no one knows how to drive, no one but me drives the speed limit, because here everyone believes a speed limit means you have to drive at least that fast. I believed all these years that I have lived here that everyone was paying these sort of premiums. Surprise! I did my due diligence and comparing apples to apples have found two reputable companies i.e., Progressive and Traveller’s  who will give me the exact six month policy I have with USAA for $1,687  (-35.6%) and $1,515 (-42.2%) respectively. And I am not done checking other companies since I have till March 25th to decide. Oh, and my cars are not expensive new cars. Nancy’s is a 2015 Lexus RX350 and Mine is a 2022 Mini Cooper

You may be asking what were my bonuses this year. The standard was $77.27 and my Senior bonus this week will be $262.02 for a total of $339.49. But that doesn’t even come close to reducing the upcoming policy to what I can get elsewhere.

So, my advice to all my military brethren, I suggest you do some due diligence on your own. Having spoken to Marine brothers of my vintage I am amazed at the huge number who said, “Hell. I dumped USAA years ago.”

I can’t wait to make this phone call and ask to speak to a Supervisor because the women who answer are always so nice and I do not want to shoot the messenger. Speaking to supervisor might have more of an impact on Mr. Peacock, but I have doubts, he’s a jerk as well. How much will USAA pay for ads on the Super Bowl tonight?

Comments sincerely welcome
