Dr. Seuss Under Siege

I always enjoy posting Greg’s great  articles. Here’s another dandy

By: G. Maresca

It was not a favorable week for some iconic childhood stalwarts. It began with the castration of Mr. Potato Head who is now just another vegetable with feigned expressions making it the ideal co-host for The View. No matter how odd life is there are some folks overtly concerned about the gender of a plastic toy potato.

Who’s next, Barbie’s boyfriend, Ken?

Never mind.

Then the woke mob came for Dr. Seuss, an inside job if there ever was one. Branding this famed author of classic children’s literature, a racist was the foundation tasked with preserving his own legacy. They did so on the Read Across America Day that recognizes children’s literacy that also happens to be the anniversary of the author’s birth.

The foundation quashed publication of six of Dr. Seuss’s books that “portray people (blacks and Asians) in ways that are hurtful and wrong.” No doubt removal of those titles will have a substantive impact on our societal prejudices. Apparently, the foundation is oblivious to the violent video games children have glued to their hands and with rap music and its racist, sexist, and drug glorifying lyrics.

Once upon a time in America, the U.S. Senate unanimously approved several resolutions praising Dr. Seuss. In 2015, First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed the Cat in the Hat to the White House. That same year, President Obama told interns that “Pretty much all the stuff you need to know is in Dr. Seuss.”

Two years later the National Education Association (NEA) would reduce its emphasis on Dr. Seuss to encourage diversity. The NEA recommended replacing Dr. Seuss with “Julián is a Mermaid,” about a boy who wants to be a mermaid, and “The Prince and the Dressmaker,” about a cross-dressing prince.

A political cartoonist during World War II, Dr. Seuss was a frequent critic of racism, and anti-Semitism – strong convictions that were lacking in his time.

While Amazon banished the six Seuss titles in question, the public responded by moving Dr. Seuss’ other works into eight of the top 10 on Amazon’s best-sellers list. Internet behemoth, eBay also put the kibosh on Dr. Seuss, but still makes available for purchase Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” and Chairman Mao’s “Little Red Book,” not to mention a plethora of pornography.

Is Curious George, Winnie the Pooh and Charlie Brown next in the cancel crosshairs? To say nothing of the Weebles, who reinforce obesity, as they wobble but never fall down.

Not allowing a crisis to waste away, New York Times columnist Charles Blow chimed in saying the cartoon Pepé Le Pew perpetuates “rape culture” and Speedy Gonzalez does the same with “corrosive stereotypes.” No word on what Blow thought about Popeye whose legacy is that men are strong and there are some women who actually welcome a strong and humble man.

Being offended everywhere you look is vanity disguised as virtue. What the woke crowd understands is how most will concede in the name of expediency. Make no mistake, these tactics are not uncalculated.  Marxists exploit our freedoms to divide and seek to usurp the American ethos without firing a shot. The real question is whether Americans truly comprehend the threat and possess the will to push back.

The easiest way to make your bones as a leftist is to attack the accomplished work from eighty years ago of a dead white male. Dr. Seuss’ whimsical imagery stands as a testament to morality, while his portrayals of blacks and Asians were acts of inclusion in an era when there was little.

Tyrants understand the education of children is the key to obtaining and maintaining power. Marx, Hitler and Stalin all knew that indoctrinating children was their avenue to domination and that is why Marx included public education as the final plank of his Communist Manifesto.

With apologies to Dr. Seuss and compliments of a Wall Street Journal blog:

The Left is acting like a vulture.
When they impose their cancel culture.
If they don’t like your point of view,
You’re fired. You’re banned. Shame on you.

So now, in the manner of an empty-headed goose.
They have successfully canceled Dr. Seuss.
I won’t stop reading Green Eggs and Ham.
I am pro First Amendment, oh yes, I am.

Who knows what will be next. Maybe Jack and Jill since we know they went up there to fetch a pail of water, right? But what did they do while there? Hmm. What did Jill do to cause his disaster and get her whipped. Standby, for they may be next.

Left Turns

Hi folks, how about another great article from my favorite poster, Greg Maresca who always hits the nail squarely on the head. This time he adds a little waggishness.  How  about  that  word,  huh?

By Greg Maresca

The Nobel Prize Committee announced their annual nominees and since the committee is a willing hostage to woke politics, they nominated Black Lives Matter for the Nobel Peace Prize.  If by happenchance, BLM does not win – burning down Nobel’s Swedish headquarters should definitely get them nominated again in 2022.

For saying Dominion’s voting machines fixed the presidential election for Joe Biden, Rudy Giuliani is being sued for $1.3 billion.  Apparently, their board of directors voted unanimously 12-0 to file the lawsuit.  However, the vote was 10-2, against, but that was before they ran the ballots through their latest software.

Concerning ballots, Gallup’s annual “Most Admired Man in America” poll, had Donald Trump victorious over Barack Obama, but the initial results are being called into question as some mail-in ballots are still being counted.

The popularity of mail-in ballots was not lost on Amazon employees.  The company, however, adamantly opposed mail-in ballots for its employees on whether or not to unionize a warehouse in Alabama. Amazon was concerned about voter fraud. Imagine that?  Ironically, Amazon’s now former CEO Jeff Bezos, who also owns the Washington Post, published one diatribe commentary after another leading up to November’s presidential election ridiculing everyone who expressed any concerns about the propensity for fraud concerning mailed ballots.

As good as Alec Baldwin the actor may be, he is definitely not the best actor in his marriage.  Wife Hilaria (her stage name, perhaps?) born Hillary Lynn Thomas in Boston is obviously better having carried on the charade so convincingly for years that she was a foreign-born Hispanic.   The Woke Cancel Culture just shrugged and gave the leftist Baldwin a pass.  However, that was not the case when Country music artist Morgan Wallen said the infamous N-word during a recent recording session.  Wallen has been exiled from numerous online merchandizing platforms for his iniquity.  On the flip side, Wallen has great potential to kick-start a new career as a rapper.

The Democrat leadership in the U.S. House is stuck in the mental quicksand of Orwellian duplicity when “father, daughter, mother, and son” and all gendered pronouns were officially banned.  But it gets even better.  When Democrat Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri delivered the opening prayer of the 117th Congress, he concluded by saying: “… and god known by many names by many different faiths.  Amen and a-woman.”  The Hebrew word “amen,” means “May it be so,” yet Cleaver conjured up such a ridiculous fabrication because to Democrats “amen” sounds like an offensive reference to males.  This is more than political correctness and identity politics run amuck; it’s diabolical.  Moreover, this was coming from a man whose first name in Hebrew means “God with us” and is an ordained Methodist pastor.  Perhaps he should change his name to Ewomanuel.

Best of all, anyone caught smirking will be charged with a hate crime.

The phrase “historic first” gets thrown around like a baseball during infield practice.  Pete Buttigieg being confirmed as the next U.S. Secretary of Transportation is the first LGBTQ cabinet member in U.S. history.  Buttigieg is former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, a town not really known for its public transportation, but since when does that not make one qualified to oversee the entire nation’s system?  We are talking woke identity politics here.  Besides, Buttigieg tweeted he “loved transportation and proposed to his husband in an airport terminal.”

Kamala Harris is not the “first” American vice president of mixed race.  That title goes to Charles Curtis who was the nation’s 31st vice president serving from 1929-1933 under Herbert Hoover.  Curtis was a descendant of Chief White Plume of the Kaw Nation and Chief Pawhuska both on his mother’s side.

The Super Bowl was the site of yet another case of the “historic firsts syndrome” as Sarah Thomas was the first female to officiate at a Super Bowl.  To be even more edgy and perhaps pull in more women fans, the NFL should hire all women officials.  Who better than a group of women to catch and broadcast what men are doing wrong.

If firing someone because of race, or sexual orientation is discriminatory, isn’t hiring someone for the same reason just as discriminatory?

This is what the left calls progress.

Indoctrinated to be inoculated

Sorry for the lack of posting lately, been busy, too busy for a man my age. LOL The fact is my computer was in the shop for a much-needed health checkup. All’s well now and am back. While there is so much going on in the new world order and in our beloved country, I find today’s post to be of import to many.  To be upfront and honest, as I always try to be, I had my first vaccine shot (Pfizer and Moderna type) two weeks ago with no side effects at all, and will get my second in two weeks. So, the decision is all yours. Good luck!

Meanwhile our move towards a Socialist third world sh*t hole continues at a fast pace supported by the MSM, the rich and famous, and everyone else who stands to benefit from such a move. Of course, you and I do not stand a chance of gaining anything from it. I see in my area gasoline has already risen $0.40 per gallon.  My uneducated guess is it will cross the $3.00 mark before summer is out.

Meanwhile, I await my $1,200 stimulus check to arrive, and must decide what I shall do with it. Any suggestions?  Have you read what is included in the  trillion dollar stimulus package? I suggest you do so. I had to actually search for something that had anything to do with COVID. And how about the nine GOP senators who crossed the aisle and voted to impeach {President Trump? I wonder what their constituents think about that? Oh well, have a great day and it’s good to be back! Semper Fi Devil Dogs!

Most COVID-19 cases have had mild symptoms and despite an average mortality rate north of 75 years and a 99.6% survival level, vaccination is a must.  The virus’ ability to infect political tyrants more concerned with their “great reset” than Constitutional rights continues to metastasize.

The hype and fear campaign continues unabated despite a thousand-fold risk difference between young and old.  To “flatten the curve,” lockdowns, masks and social distancing went vogue and those who stray are shamed and ridiculed.

None of this is a panacea.

Neither is a vaccine.

A Gallup poll says 40% are unwilling to vaccinate and unlikely to change their minds. A Kaiser Family Foundation report said nearly one-third of hospital staff “would not get vaccinated.” Over half of the members of New York’s Uniformed Firefighters Association would also refuse.

The reasons are legion with unknown side effects, genome manipulation, and high-tech chip branding leading the charge. The British government warned pregnant women not to vaccinate because there is “no or limited data on the effects to the child and to fertility.”  The CDC agrees, “… only limited data are available on the safety of COVID-19 vaccines administered during pregnancy.”  Are long-term infertility issues in a Western world with already declining birthrates just another function of the great reset?

Other reports say the Moderna, and Pfizer vaccines could cause blood clots, brain inflammation and heart attacks and its effects on compromised immune systems remain suspect.  Despite a plethora of concerns, the vaccine received “emergency authorization” from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Even smokers still have the right to smoke despite the known dangers. What is the real motivation for attempting to vaccinate millions of healthy people?

No need to fear because the vaccine success rate increased from 80% to 95% after the numbers were run by Dominion and any chip implant will be a Spicy Nacho Dorito.

Sarcasm aside, concerns about the vaccine’s safety and ethics are understandable considering its unprecedented development and distribution that normally would take years. Were cells from aborted babies used in its development and what procedures were circumvented to get it to the market so quickly?

The practice of medicine has been lobbied with Uncle Sam governing nearly two-thirds of healthcare.  It is evident that since COVID began, a simple, cost-effective solution would never be allowed.  When science is politicized, we all lose as the medical malpractice of the pandemic will continue, especially when the only medical opinion permitted is Uncle Sam’s.

The Great Barrington Declaration, that can be found online, has been signed by over 55,000 medical and public health scientists.  They have affirmed that due to the relatively mild hazard of COVID-19 to the vast majority, “those who are at minimal risk” should be permitted “to live their lives normally [and] build up (herd) immunity to the virus.”

Research Dr. Michael Yeadon with over 30 years with Pfizer said in LifeSite news: “There is absolutely no need for vaccines to extinguish the pandemic. You do not vaccinate people who aren’t at risk. You also don’t set about planning to vaccinate millions of fit and healthy people with a vaccine that hasn’t been extensively tested on human subjects.”

Yeadon underscored 30 to 40% had T-cell immunity prior to the virus, and with nearly 30% having already been infected means we have reached the 65 to 72% level of herd immunity and that “the pandemic is effectively over.”

Dr. Joseph Meaney, president of the National Catholic Bioethics Center said since long-term effects remain unknown due to the lack of extended testing, coercion to vaccinate is “ethically unacceptable.”

The resolve that vaccination is somehow a social responsibility is not a self-evident truth.  No matter how noble, it is limited.  As immunity builds, the risk of infection drops.  Herd immunity certainly fits as we stampede into hysteria too easily. The ends do not justify immoral or unethical means.

A dishonest press and rampant censorship by social media regarding the inexpensive, safe and effective therapies like ivermectin, colchicine, fluvoxamine and hydroxychloroquine could have prevented many from dying.

The cure should never be more invasive than the disease.

When a vaccine to protect us from Leftism is developed, I will consider.

Black Lives Matter “Too”

Another must read gem from Greg Maresca

Sign of the times

By: G. Maresca

The political signage has sprouted among the inescapable roofing, paving, and real estate placards, as November’s election count down is underway.  On my daily jaunt, there was even one “Black Lives Matter” (BLM) sign among them nearly equaling the support for Joe Biden in a neighborhood as ethnically diverse as the Augusta National Golf Club.

Unlike the two Biden signs, the BLM one is sequestered away from the road and practically hidden from view.  The sign situated just off their manicured lawn and in the shadow of their well-upholstered Wayne Manor facade, appears to be a first-degree case of virtue signaling serving as free publicity for the Pied Pipers of Marxism.

What’s in a name?

Shakespeare’s Juliet may have believed, a rose by any other name is still a rose, but it was the Romans trusted “nomen est omen” — a name is a destiny because names, do in fact, matter.  If BLM had instead labeled themselves, Black Lives Matter, Too, perhaps they would have had a more benevolent welcoming.

BLM sounds like a social justice crusade for blacks, but they actually represent very few.

Perhaps the folks with the signage and those in professional sports fail to realize how BLM has hijacked George Floyd’s death in order to stage a second and perverted sexual revolution.

BLM was founded by a trio of Marxist lesbians whose online manifesto: “What We Believe,” seeks to “disrupt” the “Western-prescribed” family (traditional mother and father), who have emancipated themselves from “heteronormative thinking” (anti-heterosexual).  They also demand “reproductive justice” (abortions) and “foster a queer‐affirming network” (pro-gay/transgender) that is the core of their creed to remake America in their image.

When anyone takes a knee or plants a sign, they pay homage to BLM’s anti-Christian credo.

More proof was when BLM activist Sean King tweeted: “All murals and stained glass windows of white Jesus, and his European mother, and their white friends should also come down. They are a gross form of white supremacy.”  Christian churches and statues are desecrated with the BLM campaign as its cover.

Their phrase “Black Lives Matter” emphasizes the duality of convenience.  In one instance, it’s a slogan.  However, when someone tries to extend it to all of humanity it becomes exclusive.

Objecting to painting BLM on the street is unassailable.  BLM’s fanatic platform cannot be questioned because, after all, “black” is in its name.

Bestselling black author Shelby Steele said BLM is a “distraction” from the real issues.  If black lives really mattered, they would be tearing down abortion mills and crack houses instead of statues and burning Bibles.  Likewise, they would address the high murder rate perpetrated by blacks against blacks.  By focusing on police racism, which by every available statistic has been in decline for decades, they reveal their true agenda: nullify the police so that chaos reigns over civic comity without which a unified republic cannot endure.

BLM demands that racism is systemic and that you either support them or you are racist.  The only thing systemic is leftism as BLM completely ignores the greater quantity of crime, deprived education, and fatherless homes infecting black communities.

By claiming to fight bigotry, they not only excuse, but abet it, which is just another form of bigotry.  You cannot simultaneously fight against violence while endorsing it.

Despite such radical ambitions, many folks stop at nothing to coddle and praise BLM.  Such is the consequence of today’s remorseless zero-sum politics.

When BLM supports charter schools and educational vouchers, fights against the tens of thousands of black abortions annually, and promotes that families with both a mother and father are the best chance of a child succeeding in life, their mantra and theatrics is just more divisive and violent political theater.

By displaying BLM signage, you not only sympathize with their cause, but provide license for them to engage in wanton violence and destruction.

Whether they can figure it out or not, but BLM are the heirs of the Jim Crow racists as they continue to mock everything the American nation was founded upon.

What really matters is how and why BLM wars against the Christian values of Western Civilization, and does so by sawing away at the very limb they stand on.

Comedic Lives Matter

Another great article filled with truths about the sick society in which we find ourselves today. Thank you Greg.

By: G. Maresca

With the recent death of Carl Reiner, some perspective is in order.  The longtime actor, writer, director, and straight man for Mel Brooks believed humor fostered his longevity and his curtain call proved it by enduring two years short of a century.

For decades, Reiner’s witticisms and wisecracks were a perennial favorite that crossed generations.  He was the last regular of “Your Show of Shows” and “Caesar’s Hour” that had no hidden agenda other than obtaining laughs.  The comedians, writers and producers of Reiner’s era possessed intelligence, imagination and talent.

Today’s comedic monologues, quips and routines have been lost to angry, political diatribes that are more lecture than laughter – Fractured Farley Tales, they ain’t.

Late night television has devolved into ghastly versions of an agonizing Chris Cuomo and Maureen Dowd where self-righteous, condescension is the standard.

Comedy?

It departed with Johnny Carson.

Even David Letterman in his later years succumbed to spreading the butter of the leftist credo.  Proving that comedy, through political correctness, had become another weapon of leftism.

The entertainment industry promotes leftism and maligns anyone who disagrees.  One’s humor is another’s insult and the left has taken this to the extreme.  Leftists are anything but funny because their partisan snark and loathing is dispiriting and adds nothing to the conversation.

Once upon a time in America, we didn’t know the personal politics of Carson, Jack Parr, Bob Hope or Carl Reiner, nor did we really care.  Comics were not intimidated by anyone or anything and every person, place and thing was fair game and everyone was in on the jokes.

Today, any political satire from the conservative or libertarian side of the house that fails to meet leftist orthodoxy is deemed hateful.  You are “racist” if you joke about Barack Obama, a “homophobe” if you poke fun at gays, “transphobic” if you do an impression of PA Secretary of Health Dr. Levine, and “sexist” if you are not on board with the platoon of fuming feminists who populate The View.

Since the time of the ancient Greeks, free societies have used political satire as a means for introspection, while at the same time keeping government in check. Autonomous and unconstrained comedic talent has the trifecta capacity to make one laugh, contemplate and think about an issue(s).

The problem with today’s political satire is not that it derides and ridicules. Rather, our politically correct epoch has rendered it archaic and vain.  Lost is our collective sense of humor and the unrestricted resolve to actually be amused and enjoy a good laugh.

When things are difficult and challenging, we find the humor in it not because it will change the situation, but because it can help alleviate how we feel about it. Jokes are rarely singular in meaning as there is always an undefined nuance to every quip.

With the ability to laugh and make fun of ourselves lost, everyone loses.  Few, if any of the old great comedians, would exist today.  Plenty of comics, even those who are non-ideological make it a point to avoid college campuses, with their interrogational and hypercritical environment.

“We have become stupidly politically correct, which is the death of comedy,” Mel Brooks said in 2017.  This lack of humor is a legacy of the leftist orthodoxy that is sweeping the country.

In leftism’s utopia, nothing would be allowed to be funny unless they declared it so.  Think of the comedy talents of Yakov Smirnoff, or the minions leading North Korea.

Is this what we need, or worse, want?

Perhaps the joke is on us on how we used to laugh.

Psychologists tell us that possessing a sense of humor does indeed matter.  Sigmund Freud believed there was no better human interaction than two people laughing at the same joke.

Popular culture was once defined by its willingness to challenge, enlighten and awaken.  Artists, musicians, comedians and writers enriched us by delivering specific slights to the sensibilities of those who were cultural avatars and lawmakers.  Today’s performers mostly fall over each other to demonstrate how much they are “woke” with leftist bona fides.

They may believe to be woke, but in reality, they are on life support.

And we are all poorer because of it.

Amen!
