Hope Endorses Joy

By: Greg Maresca

The Democrat presidential ticket’s watchword is the thematic term: joy. When the news broke, I thought of an episode of Hogan’s Heroes where Col. Klink was reminiscing about his pre-war outings with the Nazi program: Strength Through Joy. The program was pure propaganda that promoted Nazism and monitored dissident and anti-state behavior.

Who said you couldn’t learn anything from a sitcom?

Einstein said, “Coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous.”

Barack Obama was once the Democrat’s hope candidate, while Kamala Harris is now their joy nominee. Democrats wouldn’t know this, but hope and joy are not campaign slogans but Christmas.

What is there to be joyful about?

Let’s count the ways.

Joy is someone else paying your student loan and your mortgage down payment. Joy is universal income and not having to work with free healthcare. Joy is more debt, inflation with increased oversight and regulation. Joy means high energy prices and power outages. Joy is eliminating the filibuster and packing the Supreme Court. Joy entails public school indoctrination and unrestrained illegal migration, no police or prisons. Joy is knowing Planned Parenthood has a mobile bus offering free abortions and vasectomies. Joy is higher food and gas prices, tens of millions of illegals, terrorists and drugs flooding the border. Joy is taxing unrealized capital gains while supporting Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s Wealth Tax. Harris is much like Warren; except she is a real Indian (when not playing the Black card).

What’s not to like?

The most memorable Democrat Convention moment was opening night when Joe Biden angrily yelled for all to embrace joy that you could bottle and even wash your dishes with it.

Harris’s campaign slogan might surprise her innumerable staff members who through the years left her employ overdosing on all that joy. Perhaps the media should interview them. Then again, that is not their job. The media’s job is to get Harris elected. Democrats plan to ride the wave of obfuscation into the White House as their media buddies work the oars and sails.

Three months ago, if someone said Harris would own the top of the Democrat ticket without earning one primary vote, they would have been laughed at Kamala style on steroids. The worst president in modern history has passed the baton to an even worse candidate. Her meteoric rise is totally fabricated, forced, and fake. Yet, this inept, and awkward vice president is somehow the most qualified, the most wonderful, and the most inspiring figure in American politics.

The media made Obama a celebrity whose accomplishments, intelligence, and work ethic were irrelevant. Now, they have Harris, who will save democracy despite not winning one primary for the office she seeks. It’s all counterfeit, resembling a high school popularity contest, but few care. All the while, the mindless masses continue to digest this narrative hook, line, and joy.

Making joy a virtue of frivolity was the highlight at the Democrat’s latest kumbaya of a convention. Subsisting on vibes rather than substance. The Dispatch’s Nick Catoggio used another sitcom (Seinfeld) to juxtapose the convention to “a show about nothing,” and he was hardly alone.

The last thing Democrats want is the issues front and center believing the formula: personality – policy = joy is enough to keep the White House. Moreover, as Robert Kennedy, Jr, recently said, “Who needs policies when you have Trump to hate.”

Those who believe Harris is making the calls on policy are the same who believe Biden has full mental acuity. Biden was “sharp as a tack” before “they” (including Harris) couldn’t hide it anymore.

Yet, Kama-chameleon and her cheerleaders joyfully run away from everything they have stood for.

Ignorance is bliss. It is also Harris’ foremost strategy.

Accepting the nomination as a cackling caricature of the Wicked Witch of the West dressed in mournful black does not project joy but is a ghoulish facsimile underscoring a campaign that is out for blood. Harris’s constant crackling does not perceive optimism, but of mental limitations – the notorious giggling fool – the epitome of style over substance.

Can you feel the joy?

Rather, that is your wallet being emptied.

If you haven’t figured it out, the Harris/Walz campaign of J.O.Y. is precisely an acronym:

Joke’s On You.

PS. I love it; the new theme is now “JOY.”

A Messiah Awaits

Are his comments not a breath of fresh air, and trust me they are not hot.  I am a Floridan, and if there is one thing you can count on from Ron, he means what he says and does what he says. Broward County and Disney learned that the hard way.

Next Target for Ron DeSantis: the Military

Ron DeSantis is gradually laying out his presidential agenda, and on Tuesday he unveiled a plan to build a “Mission First” U.S. military. The Florida Governor has several worthy ideas to restore American confidence in the armed forces, though fighting the culture wars isn’t a substitute for preventing an actual war.

“We need a military that is focused on being lethal, being ready and being capable,” Gov. De-Santis said in South Carolina. The U.S. military is suffering from institutional drift, as senior officers rush to associate themselves with progressive causes. One example: Space Force Lt. Gen. DeAnna Burt in a June speech unleashed a political broadside against elected state legislatures for considering what she styled as “anti-LGBTQ+” measures.

One good priority is reviving American military education. Gov. DeSantis is right that the service academies ought to be “narrowly focused” on disciplines such as engineering or military history and leadership. Civilian academics have taken over most military educational institutions such as war colleges, and the instruction is often, as Gov. DeSantis says, “substandard.”

The Governor, a Navy veteran, also says he would review the performance of every four-star flag officer and remove those who aren’t focused on lethality. There is reason to wonder if the services are producing the war fighting talent the country needs by picking leaders on the merits. More aggressive civilian oversight would help.

Case in point: In 2021 a Navy admiral suggested the service should bring back photos as part of promotion boards to achieve more diversity. Gov. DeSantis said he’d ban “race and gender quotas in military recruiting and promotions.”

The perception that the military is a political institution may be hurting enlistment, and the Army looks likely to come up at least 10,000 soldiers short this year. Gov. DeSantis says he will “restore national pride” in the armed forces, to include a school program explaining that the U.S. military “ has been a force for justice and good in the world,” which is at least a start. But an under-appreciated reason the services are struggling to recruit is that the force is too small and ill-equipped to fulfill its current missions. This wears out troops. President Trump boasts that he rebuilt the U.S. military, but he offered a one-time increase that only started to rebuild the readiness burned in President Obama’s two terms.

The defense industrial base also continued to erode on Mr. Trump’s watch. Contractors are now recalling retired engineers in their 70s to teach new workers how to build Stinger antiaircraft missiles that haven’t been in production for decades.

Gov. DeSantis’s special operation against wokeness will thrill his base, and he has correctly identified China as the top threat to U.S. security. His harder task will be building public support for a larger and more capable U.S. military that can deter the Communist Party from a terrible mistake such as invading Taiwan.

That will require convincing skeptical Republicans to increase defense spending—for example, building two attack submarines a year for the U.S. Navy, up from 1.2 now. Or speeding up the new Air Force strategic bomber. Or building a long-range missile inventory that can last more than three nights of fighting in the Taiwan Strait.

An aide to the campaign says Gov. DeSantis still plans to offer a broader defense agenda. But on U.S. support for Ukraine he’s too often catered to the isolationist right that would, in Ronald Reagan’s words, play innocents abroad in a world that’s not innocent.

Still, the Pentagon’s growing preoccupation with identity politics is corrosive to an institution built on cohesion and self-sacrifice. The country would be better prepared for a fight if a new President started to right the ship.

Has he nailed the problems or what? “. . . review the performance of every four-star flag officer and remove those who aren’t focused on lethality.” Wow, that would sure open up the promotions for three stars, albeit he should look at all flag officers, not just the four-stars.

Increase defense budget bother you? He’ll find other areas to reduce the funding e.g., all the woke shit, welfare, immigrant benefits, and many more. Ron is not a big spender, just ask a Floridan. Trump hasn’t talked about any of thee issues, because he is too busy calling people names.

My dream team would be Ron and  SC Senator Tim Scott. What a team that would make. Sorry guys but if you didn’t already know it, I am no longer a Trumper. He simply will not shut the hell up!

Children For Sale!

I have GOT to see this movie! Have you? If so, let me see your comments. This article was sent to by a Marine brother this morning. It’s from the “American Thinker.”

If you would prefer to read the article at the website, copy and paste this URL into your browser. But I would really like to see your comments. I read many of the readers’ comment at the website. You may want to as well.

God’s Children Are Not for Sale: Why the Left Hates Sound of Freedom

I recently went to see the movie Sound of Freedom. It was the first time I had gone to a movie theater since before Covid and it was well worth the wait for such a superb and important film. I was curious about a number of things including whether, in the midst of a heatwave (and rumors that AMC Theaters were sabotaging the air-conditioning in theaters showing the film), the theater would be air-conditioned and why the left has been so distraught over a movie about child sex trafficking – a seemingly nonpartisan issue about which all people of good conscience should be concerned.

I am happy to report that the theater, in West Nyack, NY, was air-conditioned and comfortable. I’m also happy to report that other than the first two rows, every seat was occupied. In fact, when I went to purchase the ticket, the 6:30pm and 7:30pm showings were completely sold out other than the first two rows, so I attended a 9:15pm showing.

And leftists won’t be pleased to hear that the composition of the audience was “representative” of the country’s demographics, i.e., it was quite diverse. In fact, the vast majority of the audience was Hispanic (my guess with the amount of Spanish I heard is first generation), Black, and much of the audience was likely 30 and under, although there were definitely people a bit older as well (I spotted only one white man who appeared to be older than 50). These are people the left thinks they own.

I did not spot one QAnon-supporting, white supremacist or MAGA-touting Republican. At $16 for a ticket, I found the demographics interesting, although once the movie began and I realized it took place almost entirely in Central America with all of the children being trafficked from those countries, it made sense. And despite the diversity of the audience, people laughed in unison at the one or two appropriate places (it was not a fun or funny movie) and clapped appropriately including when a pedophile was arrested and at the end of the movie.

As to why the left has done everything in its power to sabotage the movie, including Disney Studios reportedly shelving it for five years, there is absolutely nothing whatsoever political in Sound of Freedom, a mostly (the film-makers did take some artistic license) true story of child sex-trafficking. I watched the film looking for scenes, statements, or anything else that could have been deemed offensive to someone on the left and couldn’t find one. In fact, there was nothing at all patriotic about the film including not one American flag — which we know offends the left — nor was there any criticism of Democrats’ or the Biden administration’s immigration failures.

This has led me to conclude three things about why the left hates the movie. The first point is obvious: one of Biden’s first moves upon entering office was to open our southern border, which has resulted in far greater numbers of children who are being trafficked for sex and slavery. Several months ago, whistleblowers appeared before Congress to testify about Biden acting as a “middleman” in a multi-billion-dollar child trafficking operation. And Tim Ballard, the DHS agent whom the story was about and who started Operation Underground Railroad in order to save children from this terrible atrocity, and Jim Caviezel, the actor who portrayed Ballard, have spoken extensively  on the topic.

While Biden, Secretary Mayorkas, and the complicit mainstream media have been lying to Americans about our border remaining secure, the numbers, videos, and individual stories tell the truth. And that’s the problem; Sound of Freedom tells a story that the left doesn’t want you, average American citizen, to hear.

The problem with sabotaging such an important story is that there are young lives at stake, and they need our help. Child trafficking is a huge industry and people of good moral conscience need to act in order to save them. At the end of the film the following statements appear just before the credits:

Human trafficking is a 150 billion dollar-a-year business. The United States is one of the top destinations for human trafficking and is among the largest consumers of child sex.

There are more humans trapped in slavery today than any other time in history – including when slavery was legal.

Millions of these slaves are children.

It’s very easy to put one’s head in the sand and ignore the painful realities that evil exists in our world. Or as someone in the film notes, “It’s too ugly for polite conversation.” Sound of Freedom doesn’t allow for ostriches to sit back and ignore these children. Which is tragically ironic since liberals claim to care so much about certain children (i.e. media lies about innocent Palestinian children murdered at the hands of Nazi-like Israelis) while ignoring the plight of those pouring across the border from Latin America and simultaneously indoctrinating America’s children into a world of drag queens and transgenderism. No wonder the left doesn’t want Americans to become aware of how pervasive the problem is lest Biden (the guy who exhibits pedophilia tendencies of his own) be forced to act.

During the credits, Caviezel spends about two minutes talking to the audience making an appeal to everyone to tell the story and help market the movie sharing the unimaginable roadblocks to getting the film released and stating:

We don’t have big studio money to market this movie, but we have you. And the baton has now been passed to you. You are the storytellers that can get people to come see this film in theaters. Sound of Freedom is a hero’s tale but I’m not talking about the character I play. It’s the heroic brother and sister in this film that work to save each other. They are the true heroes. The most powerful person in this world is the storyteller. Together, we have a chance to make these two kids and the countless children that they represent, the most powerful people in the world by telling the story in a way that only the cinema can do. For a couple of months while Sound of Freedom is in theaters these kids can be more powerful than the cartel kingpins or presidents or congressmen or even tech billionaires. We believe this movie has the power to be a huge step forward toward ending child trafficking. But it will only have that effect if millions of people see it.”

He then put up a QR code to scan in order to help Angel Studios “pay it forward” by purchasing a ticket for someone else. For those interested in making a donation for others to see the film, you can go to Pay it Forward for Sound of Freedom | Angel Studios. As of this writing there were well over five million tickets sold (they had a goal of two million).

Which brings me to my second conclusion: the left hates straight, white, male heroes. And while the children are the real heroes in this story, Caviezel fits that bill, his powerful presence portraying Ballard is felt throughout the film’s entirety and Ballard’s work in saving children is truly heroic. The left can’t stand that; hence why movies featuring superheroes and Disney princesses are being remade with Black, gay and nonbinary representations, while every movie with a straight, White, male hero is attacked as a QAnon-, MAGA-, white supremacist-supporter or a right-wing conspiracy theorist.

Notwithstanding these attacks, Sound of Freedom is doing quite well at the box office as is often the case with a well-made film telling an important story. American Sniper starring Bradley Cooper, 13 Hours about Benghazi, and Top Gun Maverick featuring Tom Cruise back in his patriotic role all come to mind as movies the left panned, but Americans loved.

Finally, the left hates religion, likely because it instills morals which often lead people to do the right thing. Sound of Freedom is not a religious movie, but there are a few references to God that I’m sure annoyed atheistic leftists who are anything but morally driven to do the right thing. At one point one of the characters was explaining why he helps save children and he stated, “When God tells you what to do you cannot hesitate.” I venture a guess that most people on the left don’t hear God let alone have Him guide them throughout their lives or they wouldn’t support puberty blockers, castration, and mastectomies for children, abortion on demand up to delivery, and the legalization of cannabis and other toxic drugs for instance.

But thankfully many good people do in fact follow their conscience and recognize evil and those people are going to see this movie, are encouraging others to do so, and are hoping to help all of God’s children hear the sound of freedom. And as Ballard’s character says at the end of the film, Amen.

Please make a comment about this horrific situation!

Sweet Home Alabama

FINALLY, a senator with something between his legs that many of his so-called GOP  counterparts lack and have always lacked, including McCarthy. That fellow ceases to amaze me how he can classify himself as a Republican. This is exactly how congress can get everyone’s attention.  Tommy doesn’t care about votes like all the rest of them do, he’s doing what’s right. Never heard of him before, but I know of him now!

From the Wall Street Journal                                                                      Alabama Senator’s Military Roadblock Draws Criticism

BY NANCY A. Y OUSSEF AND LINDSAY WISE WASHINGTON—Many of Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s colleagues say he is making bad calls.

The Alabama Republican lawmaker has thrown a roadblock in front of promotions for all senior military officers, drawing criticism from the White House as well as Republican and Democratic lawmakers. He also came under fire over his comments about white supremacists in the military, a controversy he tried to tamp down this week.

Tuberville, a former college football coach who guided Auburn University to a South-eastern Conference title, won election to the Senate representing his deep-red state in 2020. He was backed by then-President Donald Trump in the Republican primary over Trump’s onetime attorney general Jeff Sessions. In the general election, Tuberville defeated Democratic incumbent Sen. Doug Jones and he has had a conservative voting record since taking office.

The 68-year-old thrust himself into the spotlight earlier this year when he announced he would block the promotions for top military generals and admirals until the Pentagon agrees to end its policy allowing troops leave and travel funds for reproductive healthcare, including abortion. He has said he won’t lift his hold on the promotions until the military changes its policy or Congress passes a measure codifying the policy.

Tuberville said he doesn’t believe the holds are affecting military readiness. He said this week that there had been no progress toward lifting them. “Zero conversations. Same as usual.”

While senators sometimes put holds on Pentagon political appointees who have policy- making responsibilities, the Tuberville move breaks with Senate tradition as it applies to career military officers. The standoff has created hundreds of vacancies at the top of the military, including the commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps.

“It’s totally inappropriate. It’s outrageous,” President Biden said last month. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) has also criticized the effort. “I don’t support putting a hold on military nominations,” he said in May.

Tuberville has also struggled to quell another controversy related to the Pentagon’s effort to root out extremism in its ranks.

In a radio interview in May, when asked if he believed that white nationalists should be allowed to serve in the military, Tuberville responded: “Well, they call them that. I call them Americans.”

He criticized Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin for “saying we’re going to run out white nationalists, people that don’t believe how we believe.”

In 2021, Austin ordered a daylong stand-down for forces to discuss combating extremism within the ranks following the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. A working group then recommended changes to Pentagon policy on how the department defined extremist activities and how the force should address an individual suspected of participating in such activities. A review found roughly 100 cases of troops engaged in extremist activities.

Tuberville, who has said conservatives are often unfairly called racists, defended his comments on white nationalism, including to CNN on Monday. He condemned racism but declined to say white nationalism was by definition racist. “That’s your opinion,” he told the CNN host.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) urged Tuberville to apologize.

McConnell, asked about Tuberville’s comments, said, “White supremacy is simply unacceptable in the military and in our whole country.”

Some colleagues said Tuberville had been unfairly maligned.

“I don’t sense from Tommy that he’s a bigot in any way, a racist,” said Sen. Kevin Cramer (R., N.D.). “I mean, my gosh, the guy’s a college football coach…he’s certainly been around a multicultural world view.”

After a closed-door Senate GOP lunch Tuesday afternoon, Tuberville altered his stance. “White nationalists are racists,” he told reporters.

The same day, Tuberville’s hold on military nominees came under scrutiny on Capitol Hill as Biden’s nominee for chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force Gen. Charles “CQ” Brown, sat for his confirmation hearing.

Brown told the Senate Armed Services Committee the hold could affect both retention and recruiting, adding that it was forcing some generals to put off retirement and leading junior officers to reconsider their military careers. —Dustin Volz and Simon J. Levien contributed to this article.

Tuberville also came under fire over comments about white supremacists.

It sickens me how the so-called GOP senators can possibly condemn and criticize him for doing what needs to be done. You want to get the military’s attention this is exactly how to do it. Keep it up Tommy my man, go get em’! Wish my Florida senators had your set.
