Castle Doctrine

Been remiss of late gang. Accomplished a bucket list item this week, Bride and I drove to Tampa stayed in a hotel and Monday night walker to the local arena and watched my all-time favorite group from the 70s that I have never had the opportunity to see live. I know every one of their songs by heart and the CD s play in my car when I am alone so I can sing along (I can’t carry a tune in a Croker Sack. LOL). Who are they, you ask? None other than the Eagles. What a show. They first played the entire Album “Hotel California” from start to finish. Must admit I am not a fan of many of those songs. Then Don Henley said, “We’re going to take a break and come back and sing every damn song we know,” and they did. Those later songs were my FAVS, especially “Take It Easy.” If you read the book you know why that’s one of my FAVs. They played for three and one-half hours with a fifteen minute break. What a show!!

Now to the post. Just when you thought there was not a dumber democrat than AOC, one appeared. And I mean this woman is a flaming idiot. I’m sure she made her fellow liberals proud,. I think you will agree.

In Texas, State Representative Terry Meza (D- Irving) has introduced HB196. Her bill would repeal the state’s “Castle Doctrine.” This doctrine allows a homeowner to use deadly force against an armed intruder who breaks into his home.

Now listen to what she has to say…

“I’m not saying that stealing is okay,” Meza explained. “All I’m saying is that it doesn’t warrant a death penalty. Thieves only carry weapons for self-protection and to provide the householder an incentive to cooperate. They just want to get their loot and get away. When the resident tries to resist is when people get hurt. If only one side is armed fewer people will be killed.”

Meza was quick to reassure that her bill would not totally prevent homeowners from defending themselves.

Under her new law, “… the homeowner’s obligation is to flee the home at the first sign of intrusion. If fleeing is not possible, he must cooperate with the intruder. But if violence breaks out it is the homeowner’s responsibility to make sure no one gets hurt. The best way to achieve this is to use the minimum non-lethal force possible because intruders will be able to sue for any injuries they receive at the hands of the homeowner.

“In most instances the thief needs the money more than the homeowner does,” Meza reasoned. “The homeowner’s insurance reimburse his losses. On balance, the transfer of property is likely to lead to a more equitable distribution of wealth. If my bill can help make this transfer a peaceful one so much the better.”

This post has been flying around the internet, I must have gotten at least a half dozen email about it. So, I did my fact checking and it appears she did introduce the bill, but did not say exactly the quotes that are highlighted.  She did; however, say that the homeowner has a responsibility to flee to avoid a confrontation. She said, “Deadly force could be used only if the resident was unable to safely retreat.” Well, that’s close enough for me. We, in Florida, also have a Castle Doctrine. I am not required to flee to safety. Anyway, the libs are really uptight about me having a gun(s) to protect what is mine.  So, robber beware!

BTW, do you know your state laws? You should.

The Democrats’ BLM Disaster

Once a source of energy in Democrat politics, Black Lives Matter has become a serious liability.

Not much to say here except keep it up Liberals. Press On!

The Patriot Post

DOUGLAS ANDREWS / FEBRUARY 24, 2022

Yesterday, we examined the disappearance of the Democrat Party in rural America, in the places beyond the big cities and suburbs. Today, we’ll look at one of the causes of that disappearance. We’ll look at a self-inflicted wound that is without a doubt the single most alienating allegiance that the Democrats have developed in recent years — namely, the party’s embrace of the cop-hating, money-grubbing, family-wrecking Marxist pressure group known as Black Lives Matter.

As is often the case with political marriages, this one turned out to be a deal with the devil. What began as a partnership between a sclerotic post-Obama Democrat Party and a cool, charismatic, street-credible cause devolved into an off-putting, tent-shrinking public relations disaster for the Democrats.

While the three-word string of Black Lives Matter played on white guilt, captured the mainstream media’s imagination, and worked its fundraising magic all across corporate America to the tune of $90 million in 2020 alone, it was another three-word string that sowed the seeds not only of the group’s demise, but of the Democrat Party’s demise among independents and rural whites: Defund the Police.

How so? Safety and security are among the fundamental needs of a citizenry and the fundamental functions of a government. When a people aren’t secure in their property and possessions, they rightly blame those they elect: their congressmen and senators, their mayors, governors, and presidents. Without safety and security, nothing else much matters. And when an organization’s war cry is to defund the very institutions that ensure our safety and security, that organization begins to bleed support. After all, it’s one thing to be shaken by the plight of young black men and the everyday genocide they inflict upon themselves in our big cities and blighted neighborhoods, but it’s another thing entirely to buy into the slander, the lie, that the cops are to blame for it.

As researcher and author Heather Mac Donald points out, police officers fatally shot 1,004 people in 2019, most of them armed or otherwise dangerous. Blacks accounted for about a fourth of those killed, 235, a ratio that’s been stable since 2015. Further, as she notes, the police fatally shot just nine unarmed blacks in 2019. Nine. And given that more than 7,600 blacks were murdered in 2019, the math is irrefutable: For every unarmed black person shot and killed by a cop, more than 800 other blacks were murdered, mostly by other blacks.

Thus, Black Lives Matter has perpetrated the vilest of lies and done the deepest of disservices to the very lives it purports to value. By calling for the defunding of our law enforcement institutions, BLM called for the pulling back of the cops from the very neighborhoods where they’re needed most. As National Review’s Rich Lowry writes:

The BLM agenda on criminal justice — based on the idea fewer criminals should be arrested and held in jail — took hold in blue jurisdictions, and the slogan “defund the police” got traction despite its utter impracticality and obvious political destructiveness.

Now, it’s obvious how shortsighted and foolhardy all this was. The rise in violent crime is a clear and present danger to the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, and progressive prosecutors allied with BLM who have pursued soft on crimes policies in the midst of a crime wave are under fire, facing either recalls or heavy criticism.

BLM has also become a racket, a grift. One of its founders, Patrisse Cullors, went on a real-estate buying spree last year before shuffling off with a sweet retirement package. More recently, no one seems to be accountable for the group’s $60 million bank roll, and its purported leaders have slipped quietly away. Even Amazon has seen enough. Last week, it took the extraordinary step of kicking BLM off of its charity platform. Better late than never, we suppose.

Also last week, a one-time rising star within BLM, 21-year-old Quintez Brown, was arrested and charged with shooting up the campaign office of a Louisville mayoral candidate, Craig Greenberg. So what did the Louisville chapter of BLM do? It posted Brown’s $100,000 bond, and he’s now a free man.

These are not the actions and activities of a healthy organization. And yet the Democrats are stuck with Black Lives Matter, because the party doesn’t have the guts to denounce or distance itself from the group’s radicalism and corruption. The Democrats will thus keep on shooting themselves in the foot — which should suit the Republican Party just fine.

Postscript: Gotta love this guy; wish we had more like him! Get the last one, may have to reply it. Why isn’t he the senate minority leader instead of that idiot McConnell. At least we’d get clarity when he talks.

Boo-yah America

OMG, This clip would be so funny if it weren’t so true and sad. Can you even imagine what the world thinks of the US right now. We are at best giving them all something at which to laugh. Folks we are being lead by a trio of  incompetent blithering fools. And what amazes me to end is the 35% of Americans who can watch this and think all’s well in Washington. Can you imagine what the Germans sitting in that audience were thinking? BTW, did any of our MSM cover this speech? I don’t know since I don’t watch any. Perhaps some of you saw it? No? Hmm, wonder why?

Putin and that pachyderm from China must be having the laugh of their lifetime. Do you think they may fear us at all? LOL

Be sure to turn your volume up during Pelosi’s speech. That is if you think volume may help, it didn’t help me and I had it turned away up.

OK, did you get all that she said? Good, please translate. Remember now, this woman is third in line for what used to be referred to as the leader of the free world.  Sleep well Americans.

Chicago Makes the News Again.

Another Barn Burner from my good friend and brother Marine, Mustang. Chicago, what a nice place to live – NOT.  When I had the RS there in 1982-85 my office was smack dab in the downtown (the Loop), and it was not a bad place t live. My last two years I lived in downtown and used to walk to work when it wasn’t -10 degrees. And most of time I didn’t leave my office till very late, like around 2100-2200. Never “packed” and had no fear of anything. Hell, I would not do that now unless I was packing an AK-47 and had a Marine Rifle Squad accompanying me.

Mayor Lightfoot walked out of a meeting with a million dollar crime victim — then a city inspector showed up

by bunkerville

In the scheme of things, this story could be about just another brazen robbery held in broad daylight on The Magnificent Mile of Chicago. A few clips for the local news: the victim gives a moving story about crime in the city. Attacks Mayor Lightfoot over the terrible crime wave. Story makes the national news. Mayor decides to visit the victim in a PR move. What could go wrong? Well it turns out plenty. More importantly, there is a lesson for those who “poke the bear.” The meeting did not go well. In fact

Days after the smash-and-grab, Lightfoot walked in to Perillo’s showroom at 834 North Rush Street, where Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, and Bentley models are on display. She wasn’t there to buy.

Instead, she met with Perillo and, according to two sources familiar with the conversation, it did not go well. One said that the famously abrasive mayor “got into a fight and walked out.”

The second source confirmed the conversation soured and said Lightfoot called Perillo an “idiot” as she headed for the door.

If only this was the end of the story… but there is more. There is the lesson for all of us. Multiply the ending of the story to the tenth power and one has the force of the federal government. Thus we now have the new DOJ’s FBI’s Counterterrorism Division . They will keep track of those who attend school board meetings and disagree. In truth, they will no doubt keep track of anyone who disagrees with the apparatchiks. Then we get a visit. IRS? Or another agency that can turn our life upside down. Need to watch this video,

After two men smashed a display case in Joe Perillo’s Gold Coast Exotic Motor Cars showroom and escaped with over $1 million in luxury watches on December 11, the well-known car dealer appeared on local and national TV news programs, demanding that the city and county take immediate steps to curb crime.

A mayor’s office spokesperson confirmed that Lightfoot met with Perillo but declined to provide details about the conversation, citing privacy expectations.

“The Mayor routinely meets with victims of crime and reached out to Mr. Perillo which resulted in a meeting. The Mayor offered to work with him to address safety and security matters at any of his dealership locations,” the spokesperson said.

A day or two after Lightfoot walked out, Perillo’s dealership received another visitor from the city: an inspector from the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP). She brought her ticket book.

Lightfoot’s spokesperson said the inspector was following up on an anonymous complaint that the city received on December 15 about a public health violation at the dealership.

“It was unrelated to the mayor’s meeting with Mr. Perillo,” the spokesperson said.

In fact, CWBChicago has learned, the city inspector slapped Perillo’s dealership with four tickets for six violations during her visit shortly after 2 p.m. on December 17. Only one ticket and two of the alleged violations are health-related.

The inspector allegedly saw three employees and one customer not wearing COVID masks inside the dealership. She issued a ticket for two violations: failing to comply with the commissioner of health’s mask order and failing to comply with BACP’s order to comply with the commissioner of health’s mask order.

Perillo received another ticket for “storing, receiving, possessing, selling nineteen bottles of liquor. One whiskey, champagnes, wine, etc.” The fourth ticket alleges two violations: failure to display an incidental consumption liquor license and failure to have a required liquor license.

The inspector wrote a fourth ticket for “interfering with or obstructing the commissioner’s designee in the performance of duties.” According to the citation, the inspector announced an inspection at the dealership’s front desk, and the attendant presented her with the business’ licenses. When she asked for the man’s personal identification or the ID of any of the company’s representatives, he walked away, the inspector wrote.

And we all know, no one walks away from an agent of the government.

The best of the swamp today

I have a question for all my followers. How can a human being with a functioning left and right brain believe all the democratic BS and vote people like Mayor Lightfoot into office and honestly think they will be better off? That answer has slayed for years.

Thank you Mustang for another great post!

Happy New Year – I Hope!

Ok, now that we have officially went back to work (some of you LOL) after all the celebrating, and 2021 is over and done with, perhaps it is time for a look back provided by my good friend and fellow Marine Greg. What a year it was! Filled with so much BS from everyone it was almost unbearable.  Even some of our Rhinos came out of the closet and showed their true leanings. And one popular Dem has sent the liberals into a spiral. Tis time for a respite away from the demise of America as we knew it and surely the loss of our Corps unless things change rapidly. Meanwhile enjoy Greg’s pickings.

Countercultural moment: When the Fiji men’s rugby team won gold at the Olympics, they got on their knees prayed and then sang a hymn in thanksgiving to God.

Oxymoron: The Webb telescope launched on Christmas has NASA anticipating it to reveal a “quantum leap of understanding of who we are, how we got here, what we are, and how did it all evolve.” This is exactly what Christmas discloses to Christians.

Snowflake hire: Harvard University’s chaplain is atheist Greg Epstein, author of the book “Good Without God.” That spinning sound is Pastor John Harvard working his way to China.

Bamboozlement for the ages: It took four presidents trillions of dollars over 20 years to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.

Most telling poll: Ten out of every six folks bemoan voting for Biden.

Quote: Thomas Sowell: “Have we reached the ultimate stage of absurdity where some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born, while other people are not held responsible for what they themselves are doing today?”

Biography of the year: Jason Riley’s, “Maverick: A Biography of Thomas Sowell.”  If you are not familiar with the esteemed 91-year-old Sowell, make it a New Year’s resolution.

Best speculation movie script:  Biden’s evacuation from Afghanistan: “Dumbkirk.”

Florida’s top Realtor: Former New York governor, Andrew Cuomo, who oversaw thousands of New Yorkers fleeing for the Sunshine State.

Facts and Stats: “Facing Reality: Two Truths About Race in America” by Charles Murray. “American Whites, Blacks, Latinos, and Asians, as groups, have different means and distributions of cognitive abilities.” Murray tackles an ideological and emotional topic head-on that is data-driven. Murray underscores how Asians, Whites, Latinos, and Blacks have different rates of violent crime that parallel academic achievement.  The book is a must-read for those hypnotized by the Critical Race Theory crowd.

Most telling: During the fighting in Gaza, an Arab woman brought her wounded son to an Israeli hospital where Jewish doctors saved him.  When asked what kind of future she saw for him, she countered: “I hope he will be a martyr.”  Nice

Next federal holiday: August 4. Provided you don’t know, well, you are racist.

Rename: Despite a more than 100% spike in homicides, the city of Minneapolis is renaming a part of the city George Floyd Square. Why not rename the city: Floydopolis.

Best marketing: Krispy Kreme handed out a daily free donut for those who were COVID vaccinated in a country where more than half the people are obese.

Latest Superhero: Black Superman: Where any Kardashian rather than Kryptonite is his undoing.

Leftism’s Man of the Year:  George Floyd spent his life cultivating a criminal rap sheet where he once held a loaded gun against the stomach of a pregnant woman. Nancy Pelosi eulogized Floyd saying, “Thank you, George Floyd, for sacrificing your life for justice. Your name will always be synonymous with justice.”  Floyd’s name will be synonymous with justice like Benedict Arnold’s name is tantamount with patriotism.

Telling headline: The New York Post: “American Idle.”  More than three million Americans remain unemployed collecting benefits despite nine million job openings. America is infected by the French variant.

Heartless trophy: Lady Gaga’s dog walker was shot while walking her two bulldogs. Gaga offered a $500,000 reward for the dogs, but no reward for the gunman who shot her dog walker.

Revealing Biden quote: “We choose truth over facts.”

Tasteless joke award: New Scientist reports a woman in Pennsylvania can drink water and urinate alcohol due to yeast in her bladder. It is called “Bladder Fermentation Syndrome.” New Scientist could be sued for either revealing the formula for Coors Light or exposing the production process for Busch Beer.

Donkey retro: Democrats brought back the 1918 pandemic, the 1968 race riots and the 1973 gas lines within the same year.

2022 Nobel forecast: Biden will collect the Nobel Peace Prize. When he takes the stage in Stockholm, he will thank the members of the Motion Picture Academy for his Oscar.

2022 Prediction the good and the bad: The Supreme Court will rule there is no constitutional right to abortion sending Roe v. Wade to history’s dustbin. While a major stock market correction is coming to a brokerage account near you.
