OMG

My very favorite Marine Sgt Major, Willie T. Reed, Jr. sent me this video today and I had to sit and listen to it twice. It brought back so many, many memories of my teenage years in the fifties when music was music. While listening to it the first time I tried to do some other work on the computer and couldn’t. I just could not do anything but sit and watch, and dream of all those memories. Like the one where I remembered exactly where I was when I first heard the song. I was with a gang of guys and girls in Joey Anderson’s basement listening to his stack of 45 album’s, and this song came on and  Delores Lily asked me to dance. It was a slow one and I couldn’t slow dance yet, so she grabbed me and taught me how. Every time I hear that damn song, I’m back in Joey’s basement learning from Delores how to slow dance while I stepped all over her feet, sorry Delores!  LOL. Oh my goodness. What memories. I hope they bring back some for you as well. If not, you’re too young! What’s the song, you ask? Well, it’s by the Penguins, if you don’t know the name, watch and learn.

  1. Joey Anderson, my my that name brought back memories, he is the one who taught me how to fast dance, he was quite a good dancer. The steps and moves I learned from him kept me out on the dance floor throughout my teen years. Joe was also the one who coined the term for those being from Inverness as “Invernesians”, you got to love him for that.

    1. LOL, Leslie, so good of you to comment. Yes he taught me to fast dance as well, albeit at 83, I’m not a limber as back then. LOL Butt Delores is the one who taught me to slow dance, and I can still do that.LOL Where are you living now?

  2. Thanks for sharing. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. Great memories. I have one request. Can anyone get ahold of the Skyliner guy on the right? I need a hair transplant and he has plenty to spare.
    Best, Doug

  3. The one that got me was Duke of Earl. The song on the radio on my very first date. It became our song for the few years we were together. Amazing how a song can instantly transport you back in time better than anything else.

  4. Jim, I WILL TRY TO FIND THE PROGRAM, WHEN I WENT DOWN TO CT TO SEE MANY OF THOSE 50’S SINGERS WERE IN ONE PLACE. LOVED THE 50’S TY SEMPER FI, JOE

    1. Joey Anderson, my my that name brought back a memory of my teenage years. Joe taught me how to fast dance in same basement, he was a very good dancer and the steps and moves I learned from him served me well on the dance floor for many years. When I think of Joe I have to smile as he was the one who coined the term
“Invernesions those being ones who lived in Inverness.
