Gee, it never stops, everyone is coming out of the woodwork. As of this morning, in two days, my blog has gotten over 85,500 hits — gee. In all the years I have been running it, I have never received more that 450 hits on any one blog. It has gone viral. I am having trouble keeping up with the comments as I want all of them — except the vulgar ones — to get their shot at me. If you cannot write something without the “F” word, don’t bother, I will delete it. There are women who belong to this blog and they don’t need to read that trash. I am sure your Mother would not be proud of you for using that language. I know I am old fashion, actually both LOL.
I am also getting tons of personal emails I really cannot keep up with — sorry guys but I will answer you, I promise becasue you matter to me. They are mostly coming from my Marine brothers who chose not to comment on the blog itself for a variety of reasons — ALL have shown support.
I wonder if “he” has seen it? I hope so. And hopefully Mr. Kelly and Mr. Allen have seen it also. I did not know Mattis or Kelly in the Corps, I was quite a few years ahead of them. But I did know Allen as a captain. I’ll bet his battalion commander, who I knew very well, we were Cpl DI’s together, is cringing at Allen’s current attitude and the station in life he has chosen. Shame on them all.
Anyway, I have not done a critical analysis of the count, but a quick check, I’d say the vast majority have been in support of the blog, about 20 to 1. Oh, there have been those who spew the party line with all the standard talking points about how horrible Trump is, how he is a racist, and he has divided the country. Of course his predecessor was clean in that regard. Of course I jest. We all know better.
I have to laugh at some who accused me of being passed over for general which is why I had almost as much time in the Corps as Mattis and was therefore jealous. That’s a hoot. Marines and other service members know why that is, but I shall not try and educate liberal civilians as to the reason — let them think they are right.
I have found with so many hits I have tired of trying to answer the liberal talking points over and mover again. So I have decided my time is more valuable than that.
Anyway, now to the point of this post. Another much more revealing criticism of Mr. Mattis’ asinine oped, specially given the timing where police are being murdered on our streets, millions looted from destroyed stored, civilians being maimed and killed all according to Mr. Mattis’ it’s only a few lawless people. One good way to evaluate anyone, especially our next Commander in Chief, is to carefully examine them. Since we are Marines it makes sense to use the standards in our Fitness Reports. Take a look at them and then decide where you would evaluate our sitting President.

Untrue Jay, I have evaluated him in much more depth that I fear you have. I do not evaluate him IAW with Marine standards, for if I did, he would certainly fail in several areas. I evaluate him on what he has accomplished for our nation. And I am sorry sir, but I don’t have times to explain that criteria and his accomplishments all over again as I have done so several time already. If you have so much to say, might I be so bold as to recommend you start your own blog, I’m sure there are lots of folks who would follow your comments — well, maybe not enough to make a difference according to my count.
I judge the president on what he said he was going to do, which by the way is what got him elected, and what he has accomplished thus far. Perhaps your criteria doesn’t include the nation? How he accomplishes it is what I “think” has your feathers ruffled. Perhaps Caucasus you don’t like his style? Doesn’t bother me as long as he does what he said he was going to do — those were his mission.

New subject- the NFL is talking about approving the “Knee down” during National Anthem and I wonder what your view of that happens to be? Personally, I will continue to turn off the TV and not watch any game where this occurs and would like to see someone with the ability to reach the public (like yourself) pick this issue up and let the advertisers know they will not be having “fans on TV” if they allow and approve of this open disrespect of our nation!

Sir, welcome to this blog, a rather busy one these days. LOL I started it back 2014 just for the heck of it to express my frustrations of where my country was headed, but the most hits I ever got on a single post was 405. To date as I write this to you there have been over 213,000. LOL Jeez Who’d thunk?
Anyway, I am sure you know my stand on the issue of kneeling — the firing squad! I am a casual watcher of the NFL, I really don’t have a fav team; I base my druthers on players and coaches, e.g., Patriots because of Brady and the coach. Now that Brady has signed with Tampa and I live 100 miles south of Tampa, I might actually get to see him play in person. I grew up as a teenager with Johnny Unitas in Baltimore. Anyway, I digress.
Back to your point. If I tune into a game I want to watch and the TV station shows a player on his knee during the National Anthem, I immediately change the change channel and watch an old movie or something — seriously. My bride is not a Foosball fan anyway, so she then joins me. LOL Today we really don’t know if anyone is one is on their knee it seems because some stations pick up the game after the National Anthem.
However, your point is well taken, I find unbelievable the NFL would even consider such a policy — I did not know that, thank you for enlightening me. I will certainly take that up as my next issue, that is as soon as the number of hits slow down reference the Mr. Mattis posts. I am an Economist by education, so I know where the money is — the advertisers! I will love to take that on sir. Thank you for the suggestion.
I do like college football, my grand daughter is going into her Sr year at Bama., which has always been a favorite of mine due to the “Bear”. And I doubt we’ll ever see a knee on college football, at least I hope not.

I retired in 95 and never knew Mattis. My son, a reservist LCpl, waiting to go into Iraq received a “pep” talk from Mattis and always thought highly of him. Now, he is as disgusted with Mattis and these other retired Marine Generals as I am and for the record I am not a Trumper. I didn’t vote for him and don’t like all that he does…but..I will vote for him this time around. The alternative is a bumbling, Braindead fool who will be used by others.
Bill, Mattis uses bravado to motivate the young enlisted, nothing wrong with that many warrior monks have done that, MacArthur, Patton, Puller, etc. Heck I have used as well when my unit was about to undertake a difficult assignment, but I tried top make it so I was not just talking to E-1’s – E-3’s. The negative comments I get on here from Marines usually come from those who listened to that bravado and have yet to understand what it really was. Please congratulate your son for me for having matured and realized what it was and can now look at hinm for what I believe he . Col Bathurst is the man that put me in the USMC believed in me when no one else did, interesting I arrived at my first duty station at NAS Lemoore, later received a letter from him, the salts at Marine Barracks told me you were the comander there prior. And Hamilton is a common name where were you sir between 85 and 87? I have also read a book by Col Bathurst

Things usually don’t surprise me but I was very surprised by Gen Mattis’s article. A huge, sad, disappointment.

As a retired Marine Corps Colonel, I am truly disappointed in a few of our retired General Officers of late. Thank you for carrying the torch, and bringing light to the absurdities of these itself-serving individuals. OBTW, Nikki Haley sure opened up “a can of woop ass” on General Kelly. She exposed him as part of the deep state as he solicited her support as U.N Ambassador in stifling President Trumps initiatives.
