Critical Race Theory

A very well written piece, albeit there are some words the left may need a dictionary to understand what he saying. LOL. A mostly retired trial lawyer who began as a Marine JAG Officer 1975-1982.

He poses a great question we all should be asking today, and does a great job answering it. Worth the read! Thank you Michael for sending it to me.

“What is wrong with critical race theory?”

Once the exclusive domain of deep thinking university professors, critical race theory became a part of our national conversation when the Trump administration ordered federal agencies to stop conducting workplace training based on critical race theory and opened an inquiry into the City of Seattle’s use of it.  The training is in fact political indoctrination and the public ought to know what it is and why it should be resisted.

Critical theory sprung largely from the Marxist scholars of the Frankfurt School in 1930’s Germany.  In 1848 Karl Marx had introduced the world to an analysis of social relations characterized by oppression when he argued in The Communist Manifesto and Capital that working class laborers were oppressed by those in power, the owners of capital. He argued for class consciousness, and in advocating radical change, he famously argued the workers had nothing to lose but their chains.  The dilemma facing the Frankfurt School scholars was why after the Russian Revolution and the wide dissemination of Marx’s invitation to a workers’ paradise was it not being realized?  Industrial organization and mass communications seemed to divert the oppressed workers from their liberation.  Max Horkheimer of the Frankfurt School is credited with arguing a theory is “critical” if it seeks “to liberate human beings from the circumstances that enslave them”, and critical theory was applied to interrogate how power was used to perpetuate oppression.

Critical race theory is a variant of what began in the 1970’s as critical legal studies.  Critical legal studies looked at our laws with the assumption that law oppresses people, especially minorities, and examined how power was used to create and enforce the law.  Restrictive racial covenants in property deeds was an example of the use of law to perpetuate racial oppression.  Denying women the right to vote and prosecuting women like Susan B. Anthony in 1872 when she defied the law and cast a vote was an example of the use of law to perpetuate gender oppression.

Women gained the right to vote in Washington in 1910, Wyoming before that, and the US Supreme Court declared restrictive racial covenants were illegal and unenforceable everywhere in 1948.  Nonetheless, and not withstanding adoption of the 14th, 15th and 19th Amendments and a web of state and federal legislation outlawing discrimination based solely on race or gender, critical legal theorists concluded that the power of the oppressors was  embedded in our political structures and infects our laws today to perpetuate bias and discrimination against minorities and other marginalized communities.  As Samuel Gregg puts it in “Liberalism’s Civilization Problem,” Law and Liberty, September 7, 2020, the left’s “insistence that most of the West’s achievements are primarily masks for endless oppression largely flows from the left’s generally negative view of Western civilization” (emphasis mine).  In this dystopia there is no arc of justice, instead, US history is irredeemably rotten to the core.

Critical race theory proceeds from the fallacy that a binary of white and black, or white and everybody else, is the only appropriate frame of reference for a discussion of race.  Applying Ockham’s Razor to inconvenient facts, this binary ignores the history of racial bias against the Irish, Italian, Jewish people and many others ordinarily thought of as white.  Starting with this assumed racial binary, the critical theorists contend racial bias is embedded not only in our laws, but also our language, media, political structures and culture, and they set out to look for it.  Ignoring all the steps we have taken to eliminate racial prejudice from our laws and institutions, practitioners of critical race theory rediscovered what Stokely Carmichael described as “institutional racism” in his 1967 book, Black Power: The Politics of Liberation.

It’s called systemic racism today, and its corollary theory holds that implicit bias exists even among those who deny any bias at all.  Indeed, denial of bias is strong proof one is in fact sick with bias.  This demand to override a person’s reluctance to accept the fact that she is in fact racially biased is one of the most pernicious and dangerous features of critical race theory.  These are not mere thought crimes, they are unthought crimes.  And the unrepentant ominously resemble dissidents in the former Soviet Union or the unruly psychiatric patients in the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

The Trump administration’s recent Executive Order and inquiry into Seattle’s work place training alleges that only White employees are required to admit to and denounce their racist impulses.  At first blush the required training appears to violate state and federal laws prohibiting discrimination based solely on race.

Aside from the totalitarian impulse to control what people think and the words people speak, two fundamental issues should make us wary of the growth of this ideology.  First, it is no accident these theorists too often are White academics and legislators.  Robin Diangelo is a White academic whose popular 2018 book, “White Fragility,” is a lecture to White people about how they got race all wrong and ignorantly so.

White men legislated poverty programs in the 1960’s that in the end further impoverished Black communities.  So much so that White men led by President Bill Clinton and then Senator Joe Biden legislated welfare and criminal justice reform that was directed against the Black community.  The reform ended “welfare as we know it” as Clinton put it and incarcerated large numbers of Black men, “super-predators” who needed to be brought to heel as Ms. Clinton put it to an all White audience in New Hampshire.  White folks telling Black folks what they need is a not so subtle form of oppression. White folks telling White folks what they shouldn’t think or say is almost as bad.  Isn’t it time for White folk to stop telling Black folk what they need?

Second, the critical race ideology claims all White people are infected with the racism disease and need help regardless of who they are or where they grew up.  In Diangelos’ world there are no individuals, no person is unique; instead, as a “race” we produce and reproduce racism in lockstep in every aspect of our daily lives whether we know it or not.  All notions of freedom are illusory.  The chains that bind us are no longer mere economic shackles, they define our very being which is, not coincidentally, not capable of redemption.

It is by definition a racist ideology, it divides our communities, and gives cover to those who want to destroy our history and institutions.  No leap of imagination is required to draw a direct line from the claim that systemic racism infects our institutions and must be pulled out by its roots to the destruction of civic monuments, attacks on the police, looting of stores and burning buildings in our cities today.

As Galatians 6:7 taught us, “whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

The End is Coming

Folks, I am really tired , fed up, disgusted, ravaged, and fearful of what is going on in our once great Nation. If you are still not a believer of what is about to happen on 3 November, you are wasting your time on my blog. I cannot believe in my own mind what is about to happen. The evidence is their all one must do is research the facts and GET READY. I AM CONVINCED beyond any shadow of doubt that we are in for hell.
Every American, Dem and GOP must understand the current Democratic party is not the party of JFK, LBJ, and Jimmy Carter. I personally believe all three of them would denounce the current party and its goals. So it is wrong to even refer to today’s party as The Democratic Party. They are Marxists . . . . period!

Retired CIA officer sends dire warning to America: The Left’s Marxist revolution isn’t concerned about who wins the November election

While most Americans continue to struggle against shutdown Democrats who continue to keep portions of their state’s economies shut down months after telling their citizens they just needed a few weeks to ‘bend the curve’ of the COVID pandemic, they are oblivious to what’s coming in just a few short weeks.

Many of these same Americans have seen the rioting, the looting, the attacks against our police, the continued assaults against Trump supporters, and the endless violence that has torn the soul out of many of our cities.

They don’t like what they’re seeing. But they don’t really understand what they’re seeing: The beginning of a revolution that will proceed regardless of who wins the November election.

Translated, that means if you’re someone who thinks we’ve got to put Democrats and Joe Biden in office in order to ‘get the rioting to stop,’ think again.

Retired CIA officer Sam Faddis, who spent decades undercover working in the Middle East and South Asia — and who has seen such revolutions unfold — writes in a column published by Revolver News that what’s happening across our country is nothing new. It’s a script that’s been used over and over again by Marxists, Leninists and Communists to gain power since the violent creation of the Soviet Union in the ashes of World War I.

And what’s more, many of the anarchist “foot soldiers” — the Antifa and Black Lives Matter types who think they really are fighting ‘fascism’ and believe they’ll wind up with a ‘more fair and equitable world’ if the win — will realize too late they were patsies.

“They discovered far too late that at the heart of the movement in which they were caught up were hard men with very different ideas about the future,” Faddis writes, adding: “We cannot afford to repeat this naivety.” (Related: Nancy Pelosi declares all Republicans to be “domestic enemies of the state.”)

He explains:

We are not experiencing a wave of social unrest generated by injustice or police brutality. We are watching an insurrection in progress, one which uses police violence as a pretext, but which has as its goal the destruction of the existing social, economic and political order in the United States.

Refuse Fascism is one of the primary umbrella organizations supporting Antifa demonstrations nationwide. Refuse Fascism is a creation of the Revolutionary Communist Party of the United States.  If you watch footage of the chaos in our streets, you will quickly see signs linked to both groups.

Faddis notes that the leader of the so-called RevComs is Bob Avakian, a lifelong Commie who, along with other hard-Left groups, formed “Refuse Fascism” in 2016. The CIA vet says Avakian has been open about his objectives.

“Let’s get down to basics. We need a revolution. Anything else, in the final analysis, is just bulls**t,” he recently said.

Understand, then, that Avakian and those like him who are leading and funding (yes, George Soros is involved, but so, too, are other billionaires like Tom Steyer and former Fox News child James Murdoch) do not want “peaceful protests” to rule the day. They want to overthrow our founding system of capitalism and small ‘r’ republicanism, which means replacing our Constitution with something more akin to Cuba or, at best, China.

“The New Socialist Republic in North America is…a form of dictatorship – the dictatorship of the proletariat,” says the RevCom website.

Get it now?

“The groups sponsoring the 2020 rioters are hostile to the United States of America as it currently exists. They have long since made common cause with some of our most dangerous enemies. Now, what they want is not reform. Phrases like ‘Black Lives Matter’ are a deliberate obfuscation, a time-honored tactic of radical left groups, used to make themselves and their goals seem less threatening,” Faddis warns.

He says if President Trump wins, his victory will be declared illegitimate and the mob will continue its assault on our institutions and our security and freedom. If Joe Biden wins, they will look at him as their puppet and accelerate the revolution; if he refuses to go along, he will be discarded as well.

“This is not about reform. It is about revolution, and revolutions don’t care about elections,” Faddis concludes.

OMG, it’s Coming!

I have not been a watcher or listener of Glenn BecK. Along with all the emails I get from friends, I got this one today from several but did not have the time to watch it when I saw how long it was. But then I kept getting more emails with the link so I sat down with a cup of coffee and watched it,  and I could not pause it. I had to sit and watch the whole video. Folks, this is long, real long, but I beg you to watch it and to share it. Get yourself a drink and sit back and be educated. If you are a non believer that the end is coming for America, I think you will be enlightened. He puts it all in perspective. Americans need to wake up and wake up now!!

Seriously, keep your family safe because I truly believe it is going to be BAD.

General Robert E. Lee

As a Marine Infantryman, we studied Lee, we studied his tactics, his leadership, and his mission-type orders he issued to his subordinates. We never studied Grant, there was nothing there worthy of our study. Many have suggested what the outcome would have been if Lee would have had the resources of Grant. All the frantic screaming  and illegal actions by those who would destroy any historical remembrance of him, are merely showing just how ignorant they are about our history. They know nothing of the real General Robert E. Lee.

IN DEFENSE OF GENERAL LEE

By Edward C. Smith
Let me begin on a personal note. I am a 56-year-old, third-generation, African American Washingtonian who is a graduate of the D.C. public schools and who happens also to be a great admirer of Robert E. Lee’s.

Today, Lee, who surrendered his troops to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House 134 years ago, is under attack by people — black and white — who have incorrectly characterized him as a traitorous, slaveholding racist. He was recently besieged in Richmond by those opposed to having his portrait displayed prominently in a new park.

My first visit to Lee’s former home, now Arlington National Cemetery, came when I was 12 years old, and it had a profound and lasting effect on me. Since then I have visited the cemetery hundreds of times searching for grave sites and conducting study tours for the Smithsonian Institution and various other groups interested in learning more about Lee and his family as well as many others buried at Arlington.

Lee’s life story is in some ways the story of early America. He was born in 1807 to a loving mother, whom he adored. His relationship with his father, Henry “Light Horse Harry” Lee, (who was George Washington’s chief of staff during the Revolutionary War) was strained at best. Thus, as he matured in years, Lee adopted Washington (who had died in 1799) as a father figure and patterned his life after him. Two of Lee’s ancestors signed the Declaration of Independence, and his wife, Mary Custis, was George Washington’s foster great-granddaughter.

Lee was a top-of-the-class graduate of West Point, a Mexican War hero and superintendent of West Point. I can think of no family for which the Union meant as much as it did for his.

But it is important to remember that the 13 colonies that became 13 states reserved for themselves a tremendous amount of political autonomy. In pre-Civil War America, most citizens’ first loyalty went to their state and the local community in which they lived. Referring to the United States of America in the singular is a purely post-Civil War phenomenon.

All this should help explain why Lee declined command of the Union forces — by Abraham Lincoln — after the firing on Fort Sumter. After much agonizing, he resigned his commission in the Union army and became a Confederate commander, fighting in defense of Virginia, which at the outbreak of the war possessed the largest population of free blacks (more than 60,000) of any Southern state.

Lee never owned a single slave, because he felt that slavery was morally reprehensible. He even opposed secession. (His slaveholding was confined to the period when he managed the estate of his late father-in-law, who had willed eventual freedom for all of his slaves.)

Regarding the institution, it’s useful to remember that slavery was not abolished in the nation’s capital until April 1862, when the country was in the second year of the war. The final draft of the Emancipation Proclamation was not written until September 1862, to take effect the following Jan. 1, and it was intended to apply only to those slave states that had left the Union.

Lincoln’s preeminent ally, Frederick Douglass, was deeply disturbed by these limitations but determined that it was necessary to suppress his disappointment and “take what we can get now and go for the rest later.” The “rest” came after the war.

Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the few civil rights leaders who clearly understood that the era of the 1960s was a distant echo of the 1860s, and thus he read deeply into Civil War literature. He came to admire and respect Lee, and to this day, no member of his family, former associate or fellow activist that I know of has protested the fact that in Virginia Dr. King’s birthday — a federal holiday — is officially celebrated as “Robert E. Lee-Stonewall Jackson-Martin Luther King Day.”

Lee is memorialized with a statue in the U.S. Capitol and in stained glass in the Washington Cathedral.

It is indeed ironic that he has long been embraced by the city he fought against and yet has now encountered some degree of rejection in the city he fought for.

In any event, his most fitting memorial is in Lexington, Va.: a living institution where he spent his final five years. There the much-esteemed general metamorphosed into a teacher, becoming the president of small, debt-ridden Washington College, which now stands as the well-endowed Washington and Lee University.

It was in Lexington that he made a most poignant remark a few months before his death. “Before and during the War Between the States I was a Virginian,” he said. “After the war I became an American.”

I have been teaching college students for 30 years, and learned early in my career that the twin maladies of ignorance and misinformation are not incurable diseases. The antidote for them is simply to make a lifelong commitment to reading widely and deeply. I recommend it for anyone who would make judgment on figures from the past, including Robert E. Lee.

America is in Deep Trouble

Friends, fellow Americans, I personally believe this is the most important posts I have ever posted in the nearly six years I have been running this blog.

it is A MUST READ!!! Furthermore, it NEEDS to be shared with every friend and relative in your entire address book PLEASE!

William caught me off guard on this one. Defund the police? Of course, the  “National Security Force” will handle all the problems. WOW! Ifr this read does not give you the shivers, you’re dead.

                                          Their Agenda, Our Future

Control has been a step in the agenda of the “Progressive” movement since Obama first uttered the words of their desire to “Fundamentally Transform” this nation. Way too many people had no idea what he meant when he spewed those words of treason. Now at this time, who can deny the “Transformation” promised is not well underway. Who will deny their “Collapse” and “Control” is not becoming a reality?

Civilian National Security Force                                                (AKA – Homeland Security Police / Federal Protective Service)

Keep an eye on this one. – A warning came in an editorial sent June 2nd, 2013 when Obama stated, ” We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that is just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded as the U.S. military.” In another statement, Obama said, “We have a great opportunity to really transform how we think about community law enforcement relations.” Now, knowing Biden is nothing more than an Obama puppet, one more quote from Obama. “You can judge me by those I surround myself with.” The same applies to Biden which has in his regime, many “leftovers” from Obama to carry out their agenda.

As previously mentioned in a recent editorial, the “Rights”— “Endowed by our Creator” and the Constitution of this nation have been substituted with the “Privileges” they have allotted us. How can the citizens of a nation,- rights guaranteed,- be so willing to give them up? In the march to complete their agenda of “Control,” they will lead the politically and morally blind down the path of destruction. Many have asked the question, “What happened?” — Stupid happened.  Uninvolved happened. Uninformed happened. I don’t talk religion or politics happened. Fear happened. The attitude of it can’t happen in this country happened. And on we go.

Over the past twelve years, attempts have been made by me to reveal the agenda of the “Progressive” mindset and expose them to be the haters of this nation they once concealed. Now, they openly express that hatred. There has been a desperate and truthful attempt to expose  the “enemies of state” I believed them to be. Their concealed motives and quest for power was not openly presented by them,,, until now!

During these past years, editorials sent has reached many. I’m thankful for those that have taken heed and have forwarded.  There were thousands of editorials sent and hours of research presented. There is now a loss for words. I find myself at a point where I can say no more than has already been said. The “Progressive” movement has now become bold and blatant enough to tell you themselves. It has been said that over the years “I’ve been ‘Preaching’ to the choir.” The problem now is, the choir has stopped singing.

In every situation there is a final chapter. This one is mine. I have run the race. I have fought a good fight. It’s just now time.

I’m hoping someone younger will take up the baton being passed.

                                                   Final Thought

What the “pretenders of good deeds” do in the future will be with even more boldness and arrogance. All has been covered and revealed by me in the past.  Difference being is what they and the news media will call it. Regardless, – the deceit, deception and corruption will continue. Invasion by “Illegals” from over a hundred countries will be supported or ignored.

The attempt to “Fundamentally Transform” will continue. Their conniving desire to “Collapse the System” will be their driving force. Their unscrupulous agenda is to make the citizens of this nation dependent upon their government, according to their plan. “Control” will then be in their hands. Socialism / Communism is now obtainable — if allowed.

When things get so bad we just can’t imagine a situation. When the tears of emotion, because of a great loss, can no longer be held back. When we feel the death of something so many have sacrificed to protect appears inevitable. When we see the clouds of the “perfect storm” developing, and and it appears there is nothing can be done to stop it. Is it then we discover we’ve slept too long? Is it then we submit to the “Transformers”? Is it then we relinquish our freedoms to those that will take them from us? Is it then, indeed? We watch… We look into the clouds of the storm that will devastate the remains of a nation once blessed like no other and see the promise of the “Founding Fathers” being replaced by the evil ambitions of the deceitful and corrupt. UNLESS,,, “WE the people” wake up.

Semper Fi & may God bless America.
